FYI:
Beginning Thursday evening May 15th through Wednesday evening May 21st Eva Street between Cora Street and North Street will be resurfaced. All vehicles need to be parked in a driveway or parked on an adjacent street. Thank you for your cooperation. City of Irwin For any questions, call 712-782-3337 Fall Newsletter for The City of Irwin
The City of Irwin wants to remind all residents to follow all parking laws including: parking with the flow of traffic on all city streets and do not block sidewalks (when parked in driveways or the street). This is very important especially on the streets the route to the IKM-Manning Elementary Building to keep travel safe and open for the staff and students. The City Council is considering no parking at all between Cora St/North St on Eva St and Ann St., and possibly one way traffic in the future. The use of ATV’s, motorcycles, and golf carts has also become a concern for safety in the City of Irwin. The City of Irwin, Shelby County Sheriff Office and Irwin Fire and Rescue will be working together to ensure safety and that the requirements for operating such vehicles are up to date. We would like to thank all the residents for your cooperation and understanding during the many projects this summer. The water tower is almost complete. McCarthy Trenching is continuing the Water Main Project throughout the City of Irwin and will be contacting residents to complete the line to homes. Trick or Treating will be on Thursday October 31st from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM keeping with the traditional door to door trick or treating and also offering Trunk or Treat at the Irwin Methodist Church. JOIN THE FUN!!! Trunk or treat includes the back end of any vehicle (you can decorate the back of your vehicle as much or as little as you would like) or there will be tables in the basement of the Methodist Church if you would prefer to decorate a table and give candy out from your table. DON’T FORGET THE CANDY!! Free hot dogs will be provided by the Irwin Methodist Church. If you are going to have door to door trick or treaters, please put your porch light on to let the kids know what houses are ok to stop at. The Lied Public Library has several fun events planned for the fall months. On October 5th they will be offering Rise Donuts at the library from 9:00 AM until sold out. They will be putting on an escape room event on October 11th, 25thand 26th, there are several times spots for groups of up to 4 above the age of 13, make sure to get signed up for a fun night!!! On November 1st,a day camp for kids is scheduled with the theme of Pete the Cat, for ages 5-10 and the cost is $10.00 per child. If you have any questions contact LaJissa or check library website for additional information. As winter approaches we would like to remind residents to keep all sidewalks clear of snow and ice within 24 of the end of snowfall. Streets need to be clear of vehicles also so the snow can be removed. If you have any questions/concerns, contact City Hall, 782-3337. Thank you!! We would like to thank everyone that volunteered to their time/equipment to help Irwin cleanup after the storm on May 24th. Special thanks to Gawley Tire and Repair, Robinson Implement, Farm Service Coop, City of Manilla, City of Manning, McCarthy Trenching, and all the volunteers that helped to cut and remove trees from yards and streets. Thank you also to the volunteers that assisted with the cleanup at Ruhs Park, it is all so appreciated!!
This spring, the city is planning to expand the cement at the entrances to the shelter and add two charcoal grills for use with the shelter. We are also planning on improving the basketball court and add a pickle ball court, improving and/or adding new playground equipment. It is planned to make updates to the area around the shelter house as well.
